What is the most beneficial way to bounce back from a night of drinking? Everyone is different, but this post is going to share some of my favorite products, things to add to my routine, and other implementations that really help me recharge into feeling more myself after a wild night.
Whenever I wake up, the very first thing I do is take a shower. Take. A. Shower. Yes, it is hard to get out of bed, but I feel so much better after I take a shower. Wash off your makeup, or all the bar tar off your body, we do not want to remember the frat basement as the dirt is still all on my legs.
Hydrate. Drink as much water as you can before you drink, because it drastically impacts how you feel the next morning. Keep hydrating the next day, drink water like you were drinking the night before. You might be peeing every five minutes, but it works. Gatorade and LiquidIV are two very popular brands that help with rehydrating.
Now you can go back to bed. Rest up and recharge. I always pull out the comfiest clothes I own, usually sweatpants or old shorts that I have somehow had since 7th grade that have been molded to my body. I spend as much time in bed as possible. If you need all day, take the day and rest up. It can be worse when you force yourself to do things when your body is not ready. With that, listen to your body.
If you do not have the luxury of staying in bed all day and have to go in public, don’t you dare forget your sunglasses. The shame of forgetting sunglasses and having to squint to simply walk outside, and have your hangover face shown for all to see is a different level of hardship. Channel your inner Kardashian and grab the biggest sunglasses you have. Not only do they hide your face, but you can actually open your eyes. My eyes become so sensitive to light, sometimes I have to wear them inside, which can be embarrassing but no shame here.
Fule your body, especially what it is craving. Sensitive stomachs are destined to happen after a night of drinking, so I usually do not hold back in eating foods my body is craving. I have no shame in admitting that bagels, Taco Bell, Papa Johns, and Mcdonalds are the main cures to my hangover headaches. There is comfort within these meals, something in the low quality of the food is the secret ingredient of coming back to life.
Big Sean once said, “Last night I took an L but tonight I bounce back”, the night before might not technically be an L, but today we are definitely bouncing back. Sunday Scarries can be cured, so do not fret.
