Halloween is literally around the corner! I don't know about you, but I am so excited after missing a year of spooky celebrations due to the "rona". This year, you probably want to go bigger and better than ever before. Whether it's a party, fright fest at six flags, or taking your little cousin trick or treating, it is exciting to finally get to dress up again. Although, this year it feels as though halloween creeped up on us really fast. This means another year of desperately searching for some last minute halloween costumes for whatever festivities you're planning. Don't worry, we are not judging. We are here to save you with some far-from-basic last minute costumes!
Squid games
I've seen it, you've seen it, your neighbor's probably seen it too. Squid games blew up and for good reason. The best part is that the timing could not have been better. Whether you want to be a player or a worker, the costumes are so easy to recreate. For a player, all you
need is a green tracksuit and some white fabric paint. Pick a number and write it into the jacket and pants to make it have more resemblance to the show. Now all you need is a pair of white vans (or any white shoes tbh) and you have now joined the game. Get your friends together and play a fun game of red-light green-light to make it even better. If you want to become a squid games worker instead, you'll need a red tracksuit, some harnesses, and a black mask. With the same white fabric marker, draw on your shape of choice: circle, triangle, or square. To make it even more accurate, get yourself a nerf gun and eliminate the players with bad costumes.
Classic cat
This is a go to every year for when you literally have nothing else to pick from. The black cat is the easiest costume and always a great choice for when you get invited to a party the day before halloween. The best thing about the black cat costume is that all you really need to buy
is usually cat ears. Everything else could be anything black that you already have in your closet. You could wear a black dress, black skirt with stockings (because it is getting cold and you don't want to freeze), or even black pants. To make it even more fun, grab some eyeliner and draw on a cat nose and whiskers. Once that is done, you are ready to walk out in less than hour.
Bloody prom queen
This one is a little more fun because you really get to show your artistic side. The thought of using fake blood can be scary because it can get messy. Although, with a costume like this, the goal is to be messy so if you "mess up", just roll with it. Get a sash and write "prom queen" on it. Then find an old dress in your closet or go to a thrift store and buy a cheap one. Just be sure it gives "prom" vibes because that is the goal here. Now you get to have fun. Lay down some newspaper or do it in the bathtub so that you don't get your whole room splashed with red paint. Splatter on the paint anywhere you'd like. You could even grab some gloves and get those red too for an elevated costume. For some fun eye makeup, draw some blood drips from your eyes and be ready to get some compliments about how put together your costume looks even if it was put together in a day.
Angel/ Devil
These costumes are fun to do alone but even more fun to do with a friend because they compliment each other so well. For the angel costume, you can take anything white from your closet but white dresses or skirts always look best with this costume. Now just find a halo headband from the store and you are all set.
For the devil, you can choose if you want to dress in all black, red, or a combination of both. Again, pieces from your closet work well but the thrift store is amazing if you need something quick and cheap. To finish this look off, find some devil horn headbands and you are ready to work your spooky costume. This look could be elevated with some black makeup art if you feel like doing more.
These costumes are easy and simple to put together in a day or less and should have you looking as if you have your life together and definitely did not forget halloween was tomorrow.
